Barrday is expanding its Southeast operations with a deal to move into Innovation Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The company, an advanced material solutions outfit out of Canada that specializes in composite and protective products, agreed to take nearly 88,000 square feet at 7345/8201 IBM Drive. The five-year lease is scheduled to commence in June and includes three five-year extension options.

The space will house the manufacturing and administrative processes associated with BarrMax, the company’s line of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene tape-based products for ballistic protection applications.

“Innovation Park is the ideal property for us in the fundamentally strong Charlotte market because it possesses the sophisticated power infrastructure needed for our manufacturing facility,” Barrday CEO Michael Buckstein said in a statement.

Barrday’s area operations include its longtime space within the West Pointe Business Park in Charlotte where it signed a five-year renewal last year, according to CoStar data.

Innovation Park is a 12-building mixed-use campus that comprises nearly 1.8 million square feet. Located about 11 miles northeast of uptown Charlotte, the park is home to a tenant roster that includes insurance, financial, human resources and marketing companies and includes two fitness centers, multiple conference rooms, a tenant lounge, dining options, outdoor seating areas and dry cleaning and car wash services.

Accesso Partners and Partners Group AG bought the park in 2019 for $270 million, according to CoStar information.

For the Record

Ben Rojahn of CBRE represented Barrday in the transaction, while Fermin Montes De Oca of Cushman & Wakefield brokered the deal for Accesso.
